Comments from the artist: This is one in a new series that I'm collectively calling "Wildflower Meadows." It is inspired by a field of wildflowers between Stockdale and Floresville, Texas, that were blooming in early April, 2007.

This is my largest stretched canvas to date--a whopping 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide. I have painted two 4-foot-by-4-foot canvases previously. One is in a private collection; the other is SUN DANCE with a delightful yellow background and is still available.

LOOKING INTO SPRING (Available)

LOOKING INTO SPRING is a 16X20 mixed media, layered piece. The back layer is a stretched canvas with tissue embedded in a mix of acrylic paint and medium to create a glaze. On top of that I added the first layer of wildflowers and then topped it with glass beads suspended in an acrylic medium, which glistens when the light hits it just right. I then took a thick piece of plexi-glas and painted it with my wildflowers. Using risers on the corners, I mounted this over the canvas along with a thinner piece of plexi on top for protection. Field of Dreams (SOLD)

Title: Field of Dreams. This is a 30X40, mixed media, one of my latest in my Wildflower series. The color in the sky is achieved with layers of tissue paper and acrylic color mixed with medium for a translucent effect. It's on a 1.5 inch wide gallery wrap canvas.

I had used red before, but never going this deep and rich. This is one of the most dramatic of my wildflowers. It's 3 feet by 4 feet by 1.5 inches deep.

My Sun Dance has been very popular, but I've been asked for a smaller version (Sun Dance is 4 feet by 4 feet). This new sunny yellow wildflower is 30X40, on 1.5 inch thick gallery wrap canvas. I've titled this "Another Sun-Kissed Meadow." I have used the titled before, hence "another." The first is now is the collection/Austin home of my friend and art patron Lori.
